Malatya, known as the 'world apricot capital', successfully exported 87,121 tons of dried apricots to 115 countries during the season from August 2020 to July 2021, generating revenue of $291,749,000. The USA was the top importer, followed by Germany and France. The exports have been stable for the past two years, with a shelf value of $4 billion in the global market. The Malatya Commodity Exchange is advocating for a $500 million export target, emphasizing the need for Malatya to maximize its market share.
