In their appeal, the signatories note that the agricultural sector of Ukraine is a leading and critically important branch of the national economy, generating 15% of GDP, providing about 60% of foreign exchange earnings from exports, and being vital for ensuring economic stability, financing the army, and food security (not only within the country but also globally). In addition, the agricultural sector is one of the largest taxpayers in Ukraine, with enterprises in the sector paying approximately 215 billion hryvnias to the consolidated and aggregate budgets in 2024, and 49.4 billion hryvnias to local budgets.
