Antalya, known for its olive and olive oil production, is projected to see a 45% increase in olive and olive oil production this year compared to the previous year, according to the city's chamber of commerce. The region, which has a history of olive production dating back to the 2,200s, has been planting new trees and studying for geographical indication registration certificates for region-specific olives to boost production. The city currently contributes about 5% to Turkey's overall olive production. The western Mediterranean Exporters' Association expects an increase in exports, following a surge in demand from countries like Spain due to lower yields caused by climate conditions.
