The State Fisheries Agency of Ukraine has reported a 13% increase in fish and aquatic bioresources harvested from the Dnieper reservoirs, with a total of 7.5 thousand tons, compared to the same period in 2020. Other water bodies like the Danube, Black Sea estuaries, and the Dnieper-Bug estuary system also saw increased harvests. Industrial fishermen contributed to this total, particularly in the Black Sea where they caught 6.8 thousand tons of fish. Additionally, 22.1 thousand tons of krill were extracted by Ukrainian vessels in the Antarctic, marking a 7% increase from the previous year. Preliminary data also indicates a catch of 3.8 thousand tons of marketable aquaculture products. However, a poacher in the Donetsk region illegally caught 2,7 million hryvnias worth of fish, highlighting the mixed outcomes in Ukraine's aquatic resource management.
