(Jeju=Yonhap News) Reporter Jeon Ji-hye = Jeju resident Yang Mun-eon (87) has dedicated 69 years to beekeeping, spreading beekeeping technology not only in Jeju but across the nation. Despite his advanced age, he continues to actively train successors. Lee Kang-gu (67) has been engaged in the fishing industry for 51 years, leading efforts to protect the marine environment in Jeju. He has been a pioneer in collecting discarded fishing nets and other marine debris recovered during fishing activities. He has been driven by the belief that "we must give back to the sea as much as we take from it," and has worked hard to eradicate illegal fishing and protect marine resources.
