The Poltava region in Ukraine is a significant contributor to the country's honey production, housing over 130,000 bee colonies and producing more than 3,000 tons of honey annually, which accounts for 5% of Ukraine's total honey production. The region is also taking steps to protect bees from poisoning and is implementing organic beekeeping practices. It operates five breeding apiaries of the Ukrainian steppe breed of bees and has two enterprises focused on organic beekeeping. The Hadiatsk Agricultural School is playing a key role in training specialized personnel for the industry.
