5% of the total amount of honey in Ukraine is produced in Poltava Oblast of Ukraine

Beekeepers of the Poltava region keep over 130,000 bee colonies, there are five breeding apiaries of the Ukrainian steppe breed. More than 3,000 tons of honey are produced in the region every year. This was reported by the press service of Poltava OVA. "Ukraine is one of the leading European producers of honey. Poltava Oblast has a strong industry potential, producing more than 3,000 tons of honey annually. And this is 5% of the total amount of honey produced in Ukraine," said Volodymyr Kogut, deputy head of Poltava OVA. According to him, one of the important issues remains the threat of bee poisoning during field work, and the region is working on its solution.
