[Korean Farmers' Newspaper, Reporter U Jeong-soo] According to a consumer survey, while demand for kimchi preparation at home this year is expected to decrease compared to last year, the production of key kimchi ingredients such as napa cabbage and radishes is expected to increase, leading to a decrease in overall kimchi preparation costs compared to last year. Consequently, unlike last year when high prices of kimchi ingredients were pointed out as a cause of increased consumer price burden, this year there is a suggestion that efforts are needed to increase consumers' kimchi consumption. The survey, conducted by the Korea Rural Economic Institute on 1,000 consumers aged 20 and over across 17 provinces in the country, aimed to understand consumers' intentions for kimchi preparation this year and their purchasing behavior for kimchi ingredients.
