75% of all hops in Ukraine are grown in Zhytomyr Oblast

Despite the difficulties, Zhytomyr Oblast remains the main producer of hops in Ukraine, occupying 75% of all hop plantations in the country. However, in recent years, the domestic hop industry is in a critical state due to the restrictions of large brewing companies on the use of domestic raw materials. This is reported by the press service of Zhytomyr OVA. Zhytomyr is the only plant in Ukraine certified according to international standards for the production of hop pellets. Favorable geographical location and favorable soil and climatic conditions contribute to the cultivation of high-quality hops, which allows the region to increase its export potential. In recent years, the total area under hop plantations was 0.3-0.4 thousand hectares, and the gross production of hops reached 400 tons with an average yield of 14-16 tons/ha.
