Zhytomyr Oblast is Ukraine's leading hop producer, responsible for 75% of the nation's hop plantations. Despite facing challenges such as restrictions from large brewing companies and ongoing hostilities, the region harvested 390 tons of hops in 2023 with an average yield of 13.3 t/ha. Although the industry has received state support, funding has been suspended due to conflicts. The future of the hop industry hinges on resolving domestic sales issues and promoting the use of local raw materials by foreign-capital companies. Zhytomyr Oblast has the potential to fulfill domestic brewing needs and export hops, ensuring financial stability for producers.
