The rich harvest of potatoes in Germany is expected to lower prices in supermarkets, market experts quoted by the news agency DPA say, the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency reported. Preliminary German government forecasts show that local farmers will harvest a record crop of around 12.7 million tonnes in the coming months - up 9% from last year and 17% above the long-term average. Potatoes are cheapest in late September and early October, said Christoph Hambloch, who tracks commodity prices for agricultural market analysis company AMI.
