(Namwon=Yonhap News) Reporter Baek Do-in = The Korea Traditional Ginseng Association announced on the 27th that 24 roots of Cheonjong Mountain Ginseng were discovered in a cluster on the slopes of Jirisan in Unbong-eup, Namwon City, North Jeolla Province.
Cheonjong Mountain Ginseng refers to mountain ginseng that has grown naturally for more than four generations without human intervention in remote mountain areas.
These ginseng roots were reportedly found by herbalist Jeong Mo (66) in a valley at an altitude of over 700 meters, composed of bedrock.
The appraisal results estimated that the largest mother ginseng root was over 80 years old, with a root length of over 40 centimeters, and the total weight of the 24 roots was 152 grams.
The Korea Traditional Ginseng Association set the appraisal price of these ginseng roots at 128 million won.
Jeong Hyeong-beom, President of the Korea Traditional Ginseng Association, described them as "mountain ginseng with outstanding color, shape, aroma, and taste."
