(Changwon=Yonhap News) Reporter Jeong Jong-ho = A fire broke out on a mountain in Sadong-ri, Jindong-myeon, Masan Happo-gu, Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province at around 1:57 PM on the 5th. The forestry authorities deployed 55 firefighting personnel, 4 helicopters, and 15 vehicles, and managed to extinguish the main fire approximately 48 minutes after the fire broke out, at around 2:45 PM on the same day. On the day of the fire, 27 reports were received by the Changwon Fire Department, but it was confirmed that no significant casualties occurred. The forestry authorities and police plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage. The Korea Forest Service stated, "Even small fires can spread into large-scale forest fires if not carefully managed, so illegal burning of garbage and agricultural by-products should be avoided."
