70,000 tons of carrots harvested in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany

04/01/2022 | 11:38:00 | ID: 32749 | Department: Agriculture | plant Halle (Saale) (agrar-PR) - On the occasion of Carrot Day on April 4, 2022, the State Statistical Office announced that in 2021 in Saxony-Anhalt, 70,398 tons of carrots or carrots were harvested on an open land area of 1,026 hectares. The difference between carrots and carrots, by the way, is purely a matter of form: carrots are often the early, small carrots, carrots are the long and narrow ones. In 2020, only 67,720 t of carrots were harvested on a slightly larger acreage of 1,047 ha, which is 4.0% (2,678 t) less than 2021. The average harvest volume from 2015 - 2020 (54,638 t) was even exceeded by 28.8% in 2021. In a long-term comparison, in 2021 the farms with carrot cultivation achieved the highest yields per hectare since 2012, as 689.1 dt/ha were reached.
