Horticultural production is present throughout the entire missionary territory and grows hand in hand with settlers who cultivate the land and who are advancing in the incorporation of technology for the sector. A need detected in the work of a young professional turned into an opportunity for the development of a key input for local horticulture. “A good crop starts with a good seedling” summarizes Marcelo Carballo, head of the nursery Amanecer Campero, in dialogue with Bichos de Campo. Son of farmers, born and raised in the farm, Carballo was able to pursue different studies to graduate as a University Professor in Agrarian Sciences and University Technician in Agricultural Production. “I come from a producing family, mainly tobacco and yerba mate. Thanks to access to public education, I was able to study, train, and graduate in these careers” he says with pride.
