The veterinary authorities of the Junta de Castilla y León have reported an outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), subtype H5N1, in a laying hen farm located within the surveillance zone of the confirmed outbreak on October 6 in Olmedo, Valladolid. With this case, the Central Veterinary Laboratory of Algete, a reference in Spain, has confirmed eleven outbreaks of HPAI in poultry in Spain in 2025, detected in Badajoz (1), Toledo (1), Huelva (2), Guadalajara (1), Valladolid (5), and Madrid (1). Additionally, since July 1, 45 outbreaks have been detected in wild birds in Andalusia, Extremadura, Galicia, Asturias, Basque Country, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Madrid, and Catalonia, and 2 outbreaks in captive birds in the Basque Country and Andalusia.
