A new project will seek protection for the dry pink color from pests.

In the "Panicherevo Heritage" farm, working solutions will be sought to protect the dry rose color from insects that can completely compromise the finished production. The project is implemented through a partnership between the farmer, the National Agricultural Advisory Service (NAAS), and the Institute of Roses and Essential Oil Crops – Kazanlak under the Agricultural Academy. Moreover, the project is aimed at the post-harvest stage when the fresh rose color is already dried and ready for packaging and marketing. The main problem that will be addressed is the attack by moths and the development of their eggs and larvae in the dry color. If infected, the product becomes unfit for the market, and the losses for the farms are complete, especially in organic production, where treatment options are severely limited.
