A promising 2025 season for Moroccan strawberries despite a drop in cultivated areas

The strawberry season in Morocco is off to a good start, despite a decline in cultivated areas of around 10% compared to the previous year. Favourable weather conditions and an improvement in the quality of the harvests allow producers to remain optimistic about export prospects and opportunities on the international market. The planting of strawberries started late this year, but the warm temperatures recorded recently have accelerated the production cycle. Amine Bennani, president of the Moroccan Association of Red Fruit Producers, explains: “All the plants, whether late or early, come out at the same time.” This situation has allowed an early harvest, which began about ten days ago for fresh strawberries. Although it is still too early to fully assess yields, initial feedback indicates a regular and good quality production.
