Ukraine: A sharp jump in the price of watermelons

Over the past week, prices for watermelons in Ukrainian farms have increased by an average of 42%, and today the purchase prices of these melons are UAH 8-15/kg, depending on the quality and region of production. As analysts of the EastFruit project report, farmers explain the rise in prices in this segment by the imbalance of supply and demand on the market. Experts note that, despite the significant increase in the price of melons, watermelons today in Ukraine are on average 50% cheaper than in the same period last year. "After the end of the season for the sale of medium varieties, the supply of watermelons decreased sharply, as many Ukrainian melon growers had problems with the yield of late varieties of watermelons in the current season.
