A system for collecting genetic data on farm animals will be created in Russia

The Kurchatov Institute, Rostelecom and the Innopraktika company agreed to create a system for collecting cattle data for genomic selection of dairy productivity within the framework of the XI congress "Innovative Practice: Science Plus Business". The corresponding detailed agreement will be signed in early 2025, the press service of Innopraktika reports. "More than 80% of genetic milk material in Russia is imported, and access to bioinformation databases for assessing animals in other countries is also closed. In the real foreign policy situation, a ban on the import of genetics will lead to stagnation of genetic progress in Russia.
