The CEO of AB Azucarera, Juan Luis Rivero, foresees that the company will reverse the loss situation and recover the profitability threshold by the end of the current fiscal year (in August 2026), in addition to guaranteeing the activity of the three factories currently in operation. Rivero has assessed the year in an interview with Efeagro, the first granted to a media outlet since AB Azucarera announced last spring the ERE and the closure of its factory in La Bañeza (León), and has stated that the company is "better prepared" now to guarantee a competitive sugar production in Spain. He has also defended the commitment to the sugar business of its parent company, the British multinational AB Foods -also owner of the textile brand Primark- and has denied that the company is going to sell AB Azucarera.
