Spain: In Andalusia, the slaughter of acorn-fed Iberian pigs decreased by 11.15% in the 2022/2023 campaign

In Andalusia, the slaughter of acorn-fed Iberian pigs has been reduced by 11.15% in the 2022/2023 montanera campaign, a total of 286,777 animals have been slaughtered. These are the data provided by the Iberian Pig Interprofessional Association (ASICI) at the Ifema Meat Attraction Fair in Madrid, which is held until March 8. The Andalusian community is the largest producer of this meat in Spain (48.1%) and is where the drop in slaughter has been the least, one point and a half less than the national average that has risen to 12.6%. The greatest drop in production was detected in pastures in Portugal with a decrease of 33.8%, here a total of 26,233 animals were fattened, which represents 4.4% of the sector.
