In 2020, regional exports in Peru, excluding Lima and Callao, saw a decrease of -6.4%, totaling over US $ 28,026 million, as reported by the Association of Exporters (ADEX). Despite the global pandemic, twelve regions saw positive growth, including La Libertad, Apurímac, Puno, Lambayeque, Ayacucho, Tacna, Pasco, San Martín, Madre de Dios, Ucayali, Huancavelica, and Amazonas. Primary shipments, primarily driven by mining, saw an 8.5% decrease, while non-traditional exports slightly decreased by -0.03%. Arequipa led the regional dispatches, followed by Ica and La Libertad, with copper, gold, and other commodities being the main exports. However, Ancash, Cusco, Cajamarca, Junín, Tumbes, Loreto, and Huánuco experienced declines.
