Afghanistan exported fresh grapes to the Russian market for the first time

The first batch of table grapes in the amount of 2 thousand packages was delivered on August 26, 2023 to Uzbekistan through the border city of Hairatan, then from there it went to Russia. This was the first delivery of fresh grapes from Afghanistan to Russia, EastFruit experts report, citing the Xinhua news agency. The main external markets for supplies of Afghan fresh grapes are Pakistan and India; the total share of these two countries accounts for almost the entire volume of table grape exports from Afghanistan. According to the National Statistical and Information Authority of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, in 2022 this country exported 161.4 thousand tons of fresh grapes worth $47.8 million, of which 159 thousand tons to Pakistan (98.5% of total exports ), to India - 2.4 thousand tons (1.5%).
