The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt conducted a field day at the Qaha Research Farm to evaluate 80 tomato hybrids produced by the National Program for Vegetable Seed Production. The aim is to find the best hybrids and expand the production of vegetable seeds in Egypt, reducing import bill and achieving self-sufficiency in high-quality, early-ripening vegetable seeds. The new varieties are selected for their disease resistance, viral tolerance, salinity and drought tolerance, and high quality specifications, equal to or superior to imported hybrids.
