India has emerged as the world's second-largest producer of fruits and vegetables, with a record output of 320.11 million tonnes, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Director-General of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research. He made this announcement at the fourth convocation of Dr. YSR Horticultural University, which conferred degrees on 635 students. Andhra Pradesh led in horticulture production with an output of 301.73 lakh metric tonnes, occupying 17.48 lakh hectares under cultivation. The university was recognized for its role in providing human capital and advanced technologies to the sector.
