The company "Kernel" has transitioned to using energy derived from sunflower husks for the production of bottled oil. The solution involves replacing part of the traditional fuel resources with renewable raw materials, which are a by-product of sunflower seed processing. This is reported by AgroWeek. The use of husks means applying the ready waste of oil and fat processing as a heat source for drying and technological needs on the bottling line. The husks can be processed into fuel pellets or directly burned in specialized boiler plants, providing heat and steam for production processes. Switching to energy from husks allows for a reduction in dependence on fossil fuels, optimization of production costs, and a decrease in the volume of waste requiring disposal. The use of internal production resources increases the energy efficiency of the enterprise and contributes to lowering the carbon footprint of bottled oil production. This step aligns with the trends of sustainable development in the agribusiness sector.
