The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) has reported the current status of the planting and condition of key crops in the UK, including winter wheat, winter barley, and winter oilseed rape (OSR), as of the end of November. The report highlights favorable conditions for crop establishment with 87% of winter wheat and 92% of winter barley in good or excellent condition. However, waterlogging in the West Midlands due to heavy rainfall could delay spring planting. High fertiliser prices are leading to a reduction in phosphorous and potassium applications. The OSR crops, while mostly well-established, have experienced challenges due to dry conditions and cabbage stem flea beetle, with some crops failing and being replaced by winter beans.
