Yongin City in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, has reported outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) at two meat breeder farms, leading to the culling of thousands of chickens. The first farm, with 41,000 chickens, experienced an outbreak on November 15, resulting in the death of 300 chickens and the detection of the H5 type AI antigen. The second farm, with 24,000 broiler breeders, reported deaths and the detection of the same antigen on November 14. The city has imposed restrictions and increased quarantine measures to contain the spread of the outbreak, which involves slaughtering and burying the affected poultry.
