In 2021, the Mediterranean Exporters' Associations (AKİB) led by Nejdat Sin, dominated Turkey's fresh fruit and vegetable exports, contributing 41% to the sector's total earnings of $3.08 billion. Despite challenges like rising freight costs and container shortages, Turkey found advantages in exporting to the CIS, Europe, and Middle East markets. The exports saw a 13% increase from the previous year, reaching $3.82 billion. Mersin, Hatay, and Adana provinces were key in adding value to the 5.26 million tons of products exported. The sector's focus has shifted post-COVID-19 towards safe, quality, traceable, sustainable products and practices, with a call for enhanced logistics and reduced pesticide use. Mandarin, tomato, and lemon were the most exported products, with Russia being the top buyer.
