In 2022, Albania's agricultural exports to the European Union reached a record high of 473 million euros, marking a 15.6% increase in volume and an 18.1% increase in value from the previous year. This growth is due to investments in export infrastructure and the country's favorable climate, proximity to European markets, low labor costs, and high-quality offerings. The country's agricultural sector contributes significantly to its GDP, employment, and exports. Fruits and vegetables account for about 20% of agricultural production but contribute 36% to exports, with tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, cabbage, onions, and leeks being the most requested products. However, the sector also faces challenges such as rising costs and poor infrastructure.
