The sugar cane milling in the 2025-2026 crop in the North and Northeast regions, as of March 15, totaled 54.4 million tons, a decrease of 2.9% compared to the same period in the previous cycle, presenting a more alcohol-oriented mix. Of the total cane processed in the period, 54.74% were directed to ethanol production. The data comes from the monitoring carried out by the Sugar, Ethanol and Bioenergy Producers Association (NovaBio), based on data provided by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Mapa). In the North Region, milling remained at 6.9 million tons – the same amount as the reading until the end of February – remaining 5.3% below the registered in the same interval of the past season. In the Northeast, cane processing reached 47.4 million tons, 2.6% less than the volume found on the same date of the previous cycle.
