Aksaray, a prominent alfalfa production hub in Turkey, is experiencing high yields in its first harvest of the season, covering 267 thousand decares. The region, located in the Tuz Gölü Basin, is known for its high mineral and protein content in alfalfa, crucial for animal nutrition. Last year, Turkey ranked second globally in alfalfa production, with Aksaray contributing to 10% of the national production. The province aims to boost yield to 2.5 million tons soon. Recep Yapılcan, a farmer in the area, cultivates alfalfa on 500-600 decares, employing around 50 workers, and is optimistic about the season due to favorable weather conditions. The region faces challenges in finding workers for agriculture, but welcomes those willing to join.
