Algeria is projected to import over 9 million tonnes of wheat in marketing year 2025-26 due to constant domestic demand, as per the US Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service. The country's production of its main crops, durum wheat, barley, and bread wheat, is anticipated to stay stable in the upcoming year. Despite a decrease in import levels, France, Algeria's wheat supplier, remains important, but Russia continues to be the primary supplier, with Ukraine also playing a significant role. Wheat consumption is expected to remain around 11.9 million tonnes in 2025-26, and corn and soybean imports are set to continue supporting Algeria's poultry industry. The future development of the grain sector in the Black Sea and Danube region will be discussed at the 23 International Conference BLACK SEA GRAIN.KYIV.
