REPUBLICA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman announced actions against rice and cooking oil smuggling in Batam. He explained that, after coordinating with all relevant parties, security officers seized 40.4 tons of illegal rice and 2.04 tons of cooking oil. According to Amran, the response began from a report by the public through the "Lapor Pak Amran" channel. He revealed that the report was received on Monday (24/11/2025) night WIB, and was immediately followed up through coordination with Pangdam Kepri, Kapolda Kepri, the Mayor of Batam, the Governor of Kepri, and the local Dandim. Within hours, officers managed to secure the rice and cooking oil that were being stored at Tanjung Sengkung Port. "What we protect is not the value, but the spirit of the farmers to plant.
