The National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) issued a potential danger alert for storms starting this Monday (8), valid until Wednesday (11), due to the formation of an extratropical cyclone in the south-central region of Brazil. The meteorological system is expected to cause heavy rains, strong winds, and the risk of hail, mainly affecting the states of the South region, as well as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, and Mato Grosso do Sul. According to the official INMET warning, precipitations between 20 and 30 mm/h or up to 50 mm/day, winds of 40 to 60 km/h, and the possibility of hail are expected. “Although the risk of severe damage is considered low, there is potential for interruptions in crops, falling branches, and localized flooding,” the agency informs.
