The European Union is backing a campaign by the Interprofessional Dairy Organization (InLac) to promote the sustainability and health benefits of the dairy sector. The campaign, running in Spain and Belgium until 2024 with a budget of 2.2 million euros, will highlight the sector's contribution to mitigating climate change, biodiversity preservation, and the rural economy. Despite 72% of the population not consuming the recommended daily amount of dairy products, a study shows that most consider them sustainable and healthy. The campaign aims to further highlight the dairy sector's commitment to natural resource management and climate neutrality. The Spanish government is also providing support to the dairy sector, including State aid worth 159.3 million euros to farmers.
