An unusual season: The first cherries in Serbia ripened almost a month earlier

Cherry harvest in May? Yes, but even considering the climate in Serbia, it's practically a month earlier than last year. Fruit growers in Vojvodina (a fruit-growing region in Serbia) are starting to harvest early varieties of cherries. This is the popular Hungarian variety Erdi Botermo. This year, the earlier start of vegetation applies to thousands of fruit growers across Europe. As a result, the harvest is also exceptionally early. In previous years, the harvest of early varieties usually began in the second half of June. This season, the harvest is slightly lower due to frost, but orchardists in the area claim that they will harvest about ten kilograms per tree. They also expect good prices.
