Analysts predict that the price of Ukrainian potatoes will continue to rise during the spring

At the beginning of 2024, the Ukrainian potato market faced an unprecedented price increase. In the last month of winter, potato prices reached an impressive level of 18-23 hryvnias per kilogram, which is four times higher than last year's prices, says Tetyana Popovych, head of the marketing department of the wholesale market of agricultural products "Shuvar" in Lviv. The reasons for the price jump are multiple and include such aspects as: - difficulties with growing potatoes due to unpredictable weather conditions, which prompted farmers to revise their agrarian priorities in favor of other vegetables; - reduction of harvest in Europe; - product quality that does not meet the requirements of long-term storage.
