The Junta de Andalucía has predicted a significant decrease in citrus production for the 2022/2023 campaign, with a projected total of 1,997,541 tons, which is 25.1% less than the previous campaign and 16.1% less than the average of the last four campaigns. This decline is attributed to water scarcity and the repercussions of the Ukraine War. The region will produce approximately 33.5% of Spain's total citrus production, with sweet oranges, mandarins, and lemons expected to see a decrease in production by 29.9%, 26.9%, and 13.6%, respectively. The Ministry of Agriculture is set to provide aid and support to citrus growers to mitigate the impacts of these challenging conditions.
