In 2021, Turkey experienced a mixed outcome in its agricultural sector, as reported by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). The country saw an increase in wool, hair, and mohair production by 7.7%, 4.7%, and 1.1% respectively, compared to the previous year. However, honey and silkworm cocoon production decreased by 7.4% and 15.1% respectively. The number of villages involved in sericulture also increased by 0.5%, with a 2.8% rise in households. Furthermore, the number of egg boxes opened increased by 4.4%, but the number of bovine animals decreased by 0.7%. Amongst bovids, there was a notable increase in the number of sheep and goats by 7.2% and 3% respectively.
