Argentina's National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (Senasa) has confirmed an outbreak of avian influenza (AI) H5 in backyard birds in the province of Córdoba, marking the seventh such case in the state and the 12th across the country in wild and backyard birds. The outbreak has led to over 100 notifications and necessitated sanitary actions. In response, Senasa is implementing measures such as enhanced border controls and surveillance in AI-free areas, and urging the productive sector to step up hygiene and biosecurity measures. Any observations of clinical signs compatible with highly pathogenic AI in birds or finding dead birds should be reported to Senasa immediately.
