The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation of Peru has successfully signed phytosanitary protocols with China, enabling the country to export chestnuts, pecans, and frozen fruits (including blueberries, mangoes, and avocados) to the vast Chinese market. This agreement is part of Peru's strategy to expand its agricultural exports, with expectations to grow by 20% due to the new port terminal in Chancay. Additionally, Peru has been recognized as a country free of foot-and-mouth disease, paving the way for beef and pork exports to China. The negotiations for these protocols were facilitated during the APEC Economic Leaders Week and with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, showcasing the country's dedication to enhancing its trade relations with China, which has been a significant partner, importing around US$ 420 million worth of Peruvian agricultural products annually.
