A shipment of vegetables, including green peas and Ramnagar Bhanta (Round Green Brinjal), was flown to Sharjah from Varanasi using AirIndia Express, marking a significant step towards boosting agricultural exports from eastern Uttar Pradesh. This historic shipment, which was flagged off by Dr. M Angamuthu, Chairman of APEDA, and other government officials, signifies the activation of full-scale agricultural export facilities at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi. This development is expected to benefit farmer producer organizations and exporters in the region by reducing transportation costs, time, and product spoilage. The initiative is part of the larger project aimed at establishing Varanasi as an Agri-Export Hub, a move that could significantly enhance the market potential of local agricultural products, especially those under Geographical Indication (GI) certification like Ramnagar Bhanta.
