Apple trees of the varieties Idared and Golden Delicious have been removed from the Plant Varieties Register due to non-payment of fees for their maintenance.

Recently, at a meeting of the working group on plant breeding and plant variety rights protection, the leadership of the Ukrainian Institute of Plant Variety Examination and Registration informed the participants that over 6,000 plant varieties had been excluded from the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Distribution in Ukraine due to the lack of payment of the maintenance fee. This was reported on the Facebook page of the Association "Ukrsadprom." It is noted that many varieties of fruit and nut crops have disappeared from the Register, including such varieties as the Jubilee Kopanya currant, the Conference pear, the Idared, Golden Delicious, and many other apple varieties.
