The Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CAMLR) is now accepting applications for fishing in 2023/24 from its member countries, including Ukraine. The main commercial species include Antarctic krill, canine fish, and ice fish. Ukraine's State Fisheries Agency will be handling the applications for the new, exploratory, research, and Antarctic krill fisheries until May 25. The government of Ukraine has also approved a Strategy for the Development of the Fisheries Industry until 2030. CAMLR operates under the Olympic principle, meaning no national fishing quotas are established and fishing ceases once the general resource limit for a specific sub-region is exhausted.
