The National Institute of Agrarian Innovation (INIA) transferred more than 450 varieties of native potatoes, of high genetic quality, for the benefit of conservationist farmers in the Agrobiodiversity Zones of Paymakis and Andahuaylas, in the Apurímac region. The transfer of this genetic material was carried out by the Chumbibamba Agrarian Experimental Station of the INI, with the aim that farmers reduce the loss of their crops, increase the productive yield of their hectares, and implement a Community Seed Bank to conserve the genetic material of potatoes in the communities of Marjuni, Payancca, and Kishuara (Paymakis) and Chacrampa, Huayana, and Tumay Huaraca (Andahuaylas).
