The Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (Arda) in Zimbabwe has successfully planted over 14,000 hectares of summer crops, including maize, sorghum, sunflower, and cotton, with a goal of reaching 50,000 hectares for the 2022/23 season. The authority has also seen remarkable performance in its winter wheat harvest, yielding about 58,073 tonnes. This success is part of the Arda Rural Transformation Strategy, which has revitalized previously neglected schemes, and is attributed to the government's agricultural transformation efforts, alongside private and public sector participation. Despite facing challenges that prevented the country from meeting national wheat requirements in the past, Zimbabwe has achieved its highest wheat harvest in 56 years, covering 78,063 hectares and producing 375,131 tonnes.
