Farmers in Mykolaiv have increasingly turned to niche crops like flax, mustard, and coriander in response to the challenges of a full-scale invasion and low prices for traditional crops such as wheat and barley. The area dedicated to flax has expanded from 5 to 8,000 hectares, mustard from 738 to 5,000 hectares, and coriander from 3,000 to 3,200 hectares. Although these increases are significant, they remain small relative to the region's total arable land of over 1.5 million hectares. This trend reflects a strategic shift by agricultural enterprises to explore new avenues for development and profitability.
