Argentina's soybean imports are projected to double due to a severe drought that significantly impacted the 2022/23 harvest, leading to the country's lowest harvest in recent years. As a result, Argentina, the world's leading exporter of soybean oil and meal, will need to import 7.9 million tons of soybeans, a 139% increase from the previous season. The country has already imported over 400,000 tons of soybeans in the first two months of 2023, primarily from Brazil. The grain processing industry is currently experiencing a crisis, operating at its lowest capacity ever.
