In May, the trade exchange between Argentina and Brazil saw a 15.2% increase compared to the previous year, reaching a total of US$ 3,092 million. Despite this growth, Argentina experienced a trade deficit of US$ 763 million. Exports from Argentina to Brazil fell by 4.8% for the second consecutive month, totaling U$S 1,164 million, while imports from Brazil increased by 32%, amounting to U$S 1,927 million. The negative trade balance for Argentina in the first five months of the year was US$ 2,538 million, with exports growing by 4% and imports increasing by 27.7% compared to the same period in 2022. The decrease in exports was primarily due to a drop in unmilled wheat, rye, cereal preparations, flours, and ethylene polymers, while the rise in imports was largely driven by soybeans, passenger cars, and parts for motor vehicles.
