The Argentine government expressed its "deep concern" over the decision by Brazil's Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade to reopen the evidentiary phase in the investigation into alleged dumping in the exports of powdered milk. The threat looms over the main export business of the dairy industry, which amounted to about 1.6 billion dollars in foreign exchange in 2025. Brazil accounted for 41% of the exported tons, surpassing Algeria (19%), Chile (7%) and China (7%). In a note accessed by Bichos de Campo, which was prepared in the Ministry of Economy and the Secretariat of Agriculture, it was argued that the measure violates the principle of legal certainty and disregards the technical analysis previously carried out by the Department of Commercial Defense (DECOM), a specialized body in the matter, which had closed the dumping controversy in August of last year.
